Your team is your best resource - invest in them so they bring their best selves to work.
We are all unique and so are our workplaces. Run a workshop at your place, or add a talk on wellbeing to your workplace event. Come to an offsite workshop away from the distractions of the office, or have your workshop online. There are solutions for every situation.
Resilience
Life can throw us all challenges in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes our situation changes and we may find ourselves in a place of uncertainty.
We can’t control what happens to us in life, but we can learn skills and techniques to help us cope and grow through challenge and change. We can develop our own “tool kit” so that we have the skills and resources to confidently face our future.
Burnout
When stress continues at a high level for a long period of time we are at risk of burnout. We may be used to ‘pushing through’ difficulties, or we can find that our normal ways of coping are no longer enough. We may find ourselves fatigued, our mood low, and a lack of our usual spark.
Know how to notice the warning signs of burnout, how to rebuild your resources and decrease stress wherever possible.
Wellbeing
The demands of modern life - emails, phone calls, to-do lists, traffic, relationships, family - may drain and deplete our wellbeing.
We can learn skills that strengthen our psychological wellbeing. When our wellbeing is strong it leaves us free to grow to our full potential and pursue a life rich in purpose and meaning.
Energise
The stresses of modern life can leave us feeling exhausted and can effect the quality of our sleep. Fatigue as a strong effect on our ability to function at our best and can negatively influence our mood and our ability to cope.
We can develop good habits to maximise our energy levels and learn how to support our body to rest. When our energy levels improve we can confidently move forward in our lives.
Change
When there is uncertainty, restructuring, redundancies and periods of change it can cause stress, anxiety, low mood and poor concentration and productivity.
Understanding how we respond to such stressors can help us choose helpful ways to manage during challenging times. Embracing change can help us to move forward and find a renewed sense of purpose.
Manage
There is a growing awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing in the workplace. Some employees feel shame and stigma about disclosing their difficulties, while others may be reaching out for help. Would you notice the warning signs of mental and emotional stress in your staff? Increase your communication skills so you can confidently respond and support your staff.
Bespoke
We are all a little bit different. If your workplace has specific needs, then a bespoke package can deliver a targeted intervention that is unique to your requirements.
Whatever your needs are, have a conversation about wellbeing and resilience that’s right for your business.

“
During Mental Health Awareness Week, we had a wonderful session for our people with Dr Mary Miller from Mindtherapy about the stresses of 2020 with strategies on how to recognise and cope. I've been thinking about it lots ever since, as I can honestly say it's one of the best mental wellbeing sessions I've attended. She talked about the science behind our brain's response to stress - and specifically about the type of anxiety that COVID triggers. That knowledge was enlightening enough, but then she took us through some practical strategies to mitigate this stress and anxiety. Never would I have thought that such a session could be delivered over Zoom so impactfully. But it was. Dr Mary's sessions are always so well received at Sky New Zealand, so I needn't have been surprised. Mental health is so important, it's not just about raising awareness during MHAW, but how we continue to normalise talking about mental health and offer support to our people.

I just wanted to pass on a belated thank you for coming in and speaking with the staff. The day after it was amazing how many reported sleeping better – either longer, deeper or with fewer waking moments.
I did a quick walk round to some today and this seems to be a continuing trend overall, the majority are still thinking about their personal goal.

When we talked to SKY staff they told us they wanted to know more about fatigue and getting a better sleep. In the past we have always focussed on our Workplace fatigue guidelines, which helped but what staff really wanted to know was how sleep improves their wellbeing and how they can get more of it.
SKY chose to do the “Energise - sleep and fatigue” workshop which included information everyone could relate with and practical techniques to get to sleep. Mary’s methods and soothing voice made it easy for the team to get involved. While trialling the sleep techniques some people actually nodded off and they are continuing to use the techniques at home today.

Mary spoke to the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Dental Hygienists Association on the subject of 'mental health in the workplace'. This subject is not easy for many to discuss. Mary certainly achieved an environment that welcomed openness and interaction. The structure of the presentation used many mediums, giving the audience time to take the information in and give light and easy discussion.
